A History of Excellence Colclough Upholstery Waterford dates back to 1938 when Arthur “Archie” Colclough opened up a small workshop in a laneway just off Ballybricken ,the bustling heart of Waterford City.
In 1970, the company was handed over to Arthur’s son, Bernard, who replaced the old ‘workshop’ with an ultra-modern 10,000 sq. ft factory showroom. By that time the business had started to manufacture its own furniture including mattresses.
In 1989, Bernard’s son, Owen, joined the family business, where he soon developed an interest in manufacturing and restoring furniture. Move forward to 2004, Colclough Upholstery could offer something unlike other furniture stores in the region, every item of furniture we design is produced with the customer in mind, which is why we can manufacture a corner suite, sofa or chair that will fit perfectly into a sitting room, living room, bed room etc.We can custom-make an item of furniture to suit clients’ requirements.”
The company has since expanded its services to include interior design service. Expertly run by his wife, Bridget, a qualified interior designer, this facility includes client consultation , call-out, design and colour scheme advice, an extensive choice of fabrics, curtain manufacturing, soft furnishings and accessories.
The showroom at Five Alley Lane, Ballybricken, has undergone extensive refurbishment with a fine display of Colclough Upholstery exquisite furniture and bedding. made to measure
